Funtington Flower Group

In 1986, the Village Hall was not fully booked and as always funds were short. At the same time, some of the young mothers from Funtington School wanted to improve their Flower Arranging skills. So we started in a small way, with some simple classes in the Hall, which brought in rent to the Hall, and filled a need in the Village.

We met in the mornings, in term time only, to fit in with mothers with small children, and only intended to cover our costs, and be a very informal group.

Over the years, the children grew older, their mothers went back to work, and we attracted slightly older members, but as time went on the young mothers retired from their jobs and returned to join us, enjoying our many excellent demonstrations.

We now have a membership of 40, and we have donated £2550 to the Village Hall funds, in addition to our rent, so feel we have carried out our original intentions!

We still meet six times a year, from 10 till 12 on Tuesdays. The dates are given in the Parish Magazine, and on the Funtington Website. We do welcome new members and visitors, particularly newcomers to the Parish. Members have found it a good place to make new friends!
