Most of you must have noticed by now the brilliant fund raising thermometer on the east wall of the village hall; hopefully it’ll soon start rising up the red bit. The thermometer was designed by Pat our Treasurer and Nick Dunnett very kindly made it all happen.

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to our newest Village Hall trustee – Jo Webley – who has agreed to become our Bookings and our Buildings Manager. Jo lives in West Ashling and she will be responsible for the day to day management of the hall as well as taking and dealing with the bookings for the hall.

The Village Hall quiz night was great fun. Nigel Brown was a superb quiz master, there were some fantastic prizes in the raffle (thank you to all who donated a prize) and everyone had a really lovely evening with a huge amount of shared laughter. Claire Abbey organised the evening brilliantly – from the quiz questions to the fish and chip supper – and her hard work raised a staggering £610 to go towards the refurbishment fund for the hall.

A really special thank you goes to Geoffrey Boys who has donated £2,500 towards the refurbishment. Some of the money he raised at his amazing exhibition depicting the history of Funtington Parish, some was from a raffle and some of the money was a personal donation. Geoffrey’s exhibition is now on display in Emsworth museum. Geoffrey’s amazing donation will help to fund the kitchen refurbishment.

Applications are now in for some grant funding from the SDNP, the National Lottery and from a central government scheme.  Looking around and applying for other sources of funding is ongoing.

It is hoped that some more fund raising events can be organised: if anyone would like to help please get in touch with Jane Mottershead or Claire Abbey.

The village hall AGM is on Friday 26th April at 7:00pm. Please go along to hear more about your village hall and all of its latest news.
